About the TNUSRB SI Exam

The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) conducts the Sub-Inspector (SI) examination to recruit qualified candidates for the esteemed role of Sub-Inspector in the Tamil Nadu Police Department. It is a highly competitive exam requiring a blend of academic proficiency, physical fitness, and mental alertness.

Who is Eligible?

To ensure a transparent and fair recruitment process, TNUSRB has outlined specific eligibility norms:

Educational Qualification

• A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institution.

• Final-year students can apply if results are declared before the cut off date.

Physical Standards

• Height:

  • Men: 170 cm (General), 167 cm (SC/ST)

  • Women/Transgender: 159 cm (General), 157 cm (SC/ST)

• Chest :

  • Minimum 81 cm (normal), expandable to 86 cm

Age Limit (as of July 1, 2025)

• General Category: 20 to 30 years

• Age Relaxations:

  • BC/BCM/MBC/DNC – Up to 32 Years
    
  • SC/ST: +5 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: +3 years

  • Departmental Candidates: Up to 45 years

Domicile

• Must be an Indian national and a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu

Language Requirement

• Proficiency in Tamil is mandatory (written & spoken)

TNUSRB SI Exam Pattern

After clearing the written test, candidates must prove their physical abilities:

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Endurance Test (ET)

• Men: 1500 meters run in 7 minutes

• Women/Transgender: 400 meters run in 2 minutes 30 seconds

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

• Activities include:

  • Rope Climbing, Long Jump, 100m Sprint (Men)

  • Long Jump, Shotput, 100m Sprint (Women/Transgender)

• Points awarded based on performance
