Candidates must not have completed 57 years as on 01.07.2025.
Applicants who have previously applied under the following notifications are eligible for age relaxation:

(a)
i) Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or hold an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
A 5% relaxation is granted at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels for applicants belonging to SC/ST/MBC/DNC/BC/BCM categories and for the Differently Abled candidates including Blindness, Low Vision, Hearing Impairment, Locomotor Disability, Autism, and Multiple Disabilities.
This relaxation applies strictly to qualifying marks and does not include grace marks.
Additionally, Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s degree prior to 19 September 1991 receive a 5% mark relaxation (from 55% to 50%).
ii) In addition to the above, candidates should have either:
For candidates registered for the Ph.D. program before July 11, 2009, the exemption from NET/SLET/SET applies, provided they fulfill these conditions:
a) Ph.D. degree awarded in regular mode
b) Thesis evaluated by two external examiners
c) Open viva voce conducted
d) At least two published research papers (one in a refereed journal)
e) Presented two papers in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-supported conferences or seminars
These conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the awarding university.
Note:
NET/SLET/SET is not mandatory for master’s programs where these tests are not conducted by UGC, CSIR, or their accredited agencies.
(b)
Candidates holding a Ph.D. Degree from any foreign university/institution ranked among the Top 500 in international rankings are also eligible. Acceptable rank lists include:

Special Recruitment (Presidency College – Hearing Impaired):
Along with the above qualifications, such candidates must hold one of the following:
a. Rehabilitation Council of India-approved Deaf-related course: Senior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf (Hearing Impairment), or
b. Special B.Ed. in Teaching the Hearing Impairment.
Candidates can include their teaching experience certificate to earn weightage marks for relevant subjects chosen during application.
All Government Orders concerning equivalence of qualification are available on the TRB website.
Candidates with equivalent qualifications approved by Government Orders issued on or before the notification date must upload copies during application.
Note:
Orders issued after the last date of submission of online applications will not be considered for this recruitment.
As per the Tamil Nadu Collegiate Educational Service Rules, candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil.
Those whose mother tongue is not Tamil, or who have not studied Tamil in school or college, are required to clear the Special Language Test in Tamil for Education Department Officers (Higher Standard):
This test is conducted by TNPSC and must be passed within two years from the date of appointment.
