1. TOP 10 IMPORTANT CURRENT AFFAIRS
1. Modified UDAN Scheme 2026
The Union Cabinet approved the Modified UDAN Scheme for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36 with a total outlay of ₹28,840 crore.
Key Points:
- 100 unserved/underserved airstrips to be upgraded.
- 200 modern helipads proposed.
- VGF support extended from 3 years to 5 years.
- Indigenous aircraft and helicopters such as HAL Dhruv and Dornier will be promoted.

2. LokOS – Digital Platform for Rural SHGs
The Ministry of Rural Development launched LokOS – People Operating System for the digitalisation of Self-Help Groups and Community-Based Organisations.
It operates under DAY-NRLM and supports member records, savings, loans, repayments and livelihood information.
3. Interoperable Criminal Justice System
The nationwide rollout of ICJS is progressing to digitally connect:
- Police
- Courts
- Prisons
- Prosecution
- Forensic laboratories
From January 1, 2027, investigations and trials under BNS, BNSS and BSA will be digitally recorded.
4. DIKSHA – One Nation, One Digital Platform
The Central Government designated DIKSHA – Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing as the “One Nation, One Digital Platform” for school education.
DIKSHA is managed by NCERT, with support from CIET.
5. SUMAN Roadmap 2030
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the SUMAN Roadmap 2030.
Target: Maternal Mortality Ratio below 70 per 1 lakh live births by 2030.
6. ABHA Digital Health Milestone
More than 104 crore health records have been linked with over 93 crore ABHA accounts.
ABHA is a 14-digit digital health ID under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
7. NIIF Capital Expansion
The Union Cabinet approved an additional ₹30,000 crore investment in the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund.
The Government’s total commitment will reach ₹60,000 crore.
8. India's Nuclear Warheads – SIPRI 2026
According to the SIPRI Yearbook 2026, 12 of India’s estimated 190 nuclear warheads were classified as operationally deployed.
SIPRI clarified that this does not indicate a change in India’s No First Use doctrine.
9. Kamarajar Port – 18-Metre Draft
Tamil Nadu’s Kamarajar Port became India’s second major port with an 18-metre draft capability, after Visakhapatnam.
It can handle Capesize vessels carrying up to 1,70,000 DWT.
10. India–Japan Annual Summit
The 16th India–Japan Annual Summit was held in New Delhi.
India and Japan agreed on the UNICORN defence co-development project and strengthened cooperation in AI, clean energy, green hydrogen, semiconductors and resilient supply chains.

Kamarajar Port
Kamarajar Port has achieved an 18-metre draft capability, becoming the second major Indian port to reach this level after Visakhapatnam.
Tamil Nadu AAY Rice Quota
The proposed amendment to the National Food Security Act would change the AAY allocation to: 7 kg per person per month, subject to a maximum of 35 kg per household.
Tamil Nadu has opposed the proposed change.
Social Justice Department
Tamil Nadu renamed the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department as the Social Justice Department.
Pichavaram Mangrove Beekeeping
A beekeeping initiative has been launched in Pichavaram mangroves to improve the livelihood of the Irula tribal community.
The project is implemented under the Climate Resilient Village initiative.
Chola Heritage – Tiruvalanchuzhi
A stone lattice window and a rediscovered Chola inscription at Tiruvalanchuzhi highlight the architectural and historical significance of the later Chola period.
Egyptian Vulture
Conservationists have called for urgent conservation measures for the Egyptian Vulture, which has become locally extinct in the Nilgiris.

NATO Summit 2026
The 2026 NATO Summit was held in Ankara, Türkiye. Member countries reaffirmed their commitment to Article 5.
India–Japan
India and Japan strengthened their Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
The countries will celebrate 2027 as the India–Japan Year of Shared Horizons to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.
UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance
India participated in the inaugural UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance held in Geneva.
India–Israel Bilateral Investment Agreement
India and Israel signed a new Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA). It replaces the earlier 1996 Bilateral Investment Treaty.
BRICS Anti-Drugs Meeting
The BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies’ Meeting 2026 was held in Guwahati, Assam.It was the first time India hosted this meeting.
World Bank Income Classification
India continues to remain in the Lower-Middle Income category according to the World Bank’s 2026–27 classification.

Himalayan Pangolin
The Himalayan Pangolin has been confirmed as a distinct species, separate from the Chinese Pangolin.
All eight recognised pangolin species have been transferred to CITES Appendix I.
Satkosia Tiger Reserve
The National Tiger Conservation Authority gave in-principle approval to resume the tiger reintroduction project in Odisha’s Satkosia Tiger Reserve.
Animal Discoveries 2025
The Animal Discoveries–2025 report recorded 709 additions to India’s fauna.
Kerala recorded the highest number of new animal discoveries.
Plant Discoveries 2025
The Plant Discoveries–2025 report recorded 353 additions to India’s flora. Arunachal Pradesh recorded the highest number of new plant discoveries.
Borjuli Wetland
The Borjuli Wetland in Assam was notified as a Biodiversity Heritage Site under Section 37 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
Van Mahotsav 2026
Van Mahotsav 2026 is observed from July 1 to 7. It was started in 1950 by K. M. Munshi.

Oldest Quasars
Scientists discovered some of the oldest known quasars using the Euclid Space Telescope of the European Space Agency.
RAD-BAARG
Indian researchers discovered a rare bow-and-arrow-shaped radio galaxy named RAD-BAARG.
Placenta-on-Chip
Scientists from IIT Bombay and ICMR-NIRRCH developed a placenta-on-chip platform to study pregnancy-related functions and medicines.
UFOSS
DRDO launched a project for an indigenous Underwater Fibre Optic Sensing System (UFOSS) for seabed-based submarine surveillance.
Fractional Fermi Sea
Scientists at the University of Innsbruck created a new exotic quantum state of matter called the Fractional Fermi Sea.
Gaganyaan – SOLVE Ground Test
ISRO successfully tested the SOLVE solid motor at Sriharikota for the Gaganyaan mission.
Vikram-1
Skyroot Aerospace announced the launch window for Vikram-1, India’s first private orbital rocket.
GAGAN Satellite Landing Trial
India conducted its first satellite-based landing system approach trial using GAGAN at Udaipur Airport.

EPF Scheme 2026
The Central Government notified the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, 2026, replacing the 1952 scheme.
The employee and employer contribution remains 12% of wages each.
RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme 2026
The revised RB-IOS 2026 came into effect on July 1, 2026.
Compensation limits:
- Financial loss – ₹30 lakh
- Harassment/delay/mental anguish – ₹3 lakh
India's External Debt
India’s external debt increased to $762.8 billion in FY26.
External debt-to-GDP ratio: 20.8%
World LNG Report 2026
Global LNG trade reached a record 437 million tonnes in 2025. India became the 4th-largest regasification market.
Global Passport Index 2026
India ranked 125th in the Global Passport Index 2026.

Gujarat is constructing its first two air-filled rubber dams:

Narmada River Agreement
Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra reached an agreement on pending issues related to the Narmada Project.
TribeX Platform
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched TribeX in Bhubaneswar. It is India’s first digital learning platform dedicated to tribal arts, culture, languages and traditional knowledge.
Geographical Indications
125 GI registrations were recorded between April 2025 and March 2026.
Delhi EV Policy 2026
Delhi’s EV Policy 2.0 targets 30% electrification of Delhi’s total vehicle fleet by March 31, 2030.
